soft maps
Ah, blanket season. I love the idea of these map quilts by Haptic Lab, especially as a baby blanket.

art of mcsweeney's
The talented folks at McSweeney's have published a nice book chronicling the quarterlies 12 years of super book design. If you haven't seen their books, I advise you order a subscription.
It can be purchased through Chronicle Books. Here are excerpts from the book over at Sight Unseen. Here is a nice little vid too.

best cinnamon roll ever
While in Kansas City for a bit of a mini vacation during the Fourth, we ate at a great breakfast joint in the Crossroads District/Crown Center area, You Say Tomato. The perfect cinnamon roll, a warm up with icing added.

I'm really taken with this cover design spied on Book Covers Anonymous, one of my favorite book design feeds. I think I may need to purchase it.

our garden
Gratuitous garden shots. The pollen has been kicking my ass, as it does every year, but I can still enjoy the garden and all it's new blooms.
There's D, in all his garden glory.
I bought this bakers twine from Divine Twine, in yellow, for Sun's Valentine's Day party favors. I was wondering how else I would use this large spool of left over twine. Well, of course, thanks to D who used it to tie up some homegrown oregano for drying, so cute!

harlem @ the riot room
Caught Harlem at the Riot Room Friday night, and they did not disappoint. Wasn't really sure what to expect from the post Hurricane scene, but it was good for people watching (unfortunately didn't grab a good shot of the dude in short shorts and a fanny pack).
Nice, big marching band kick drum? Okay.
We were content.

opening ceremony | fall/winter
I know it's not even summer yet, but these slim pants from Opening Ceremony's Fall/Winter lookbook are amazing. So simple, but it's all about that crease and taper. Please send me a pair.

the art of the novella
d-rolf brought these great little books back from the AWP Conference, and I was instantly smitten (always smitten with a "series" of anything). Melville House Publishing has created this series of books, The Art of the Novella, and now I want to collect them all. Wish me luck! You can purchase them from their webby.
